The fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Preliminary findings from the Minnesota State Patrol indicate that Hurley was riding an Aprilia RSV4 motorcycle northwest on U.S. Highway 61 while attempting to exit onto northbound Minnesota Highway 95 when he lost control of the motorcycle. The motorcycle slid across the roadway, and Hurley was thrown from the bike into the path of a southbound 2025 Honda Passport traveling on Highway 95.
Authorities said the SUV struck Hurley after he entered its lane of travel. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 9 a.m., but despite their efforts, Hurley was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
